CHILDLINE Ajmer

Childline Ajmer was started in July 2011. The program is currently fully active in the areas of Masuda, Pisangan and Jawaja.

Objective: – Our vision is to provide a child-friendly nation that guarantees the rights and protection of all children. We aim provide emergency assistance to any child who is need of care and protection. We aim at voicing the concerns and issues of children to policy makers and thus advocate services for children.

Identification Procedure: –

CHILDLINE has a national, 24 hour emergency outreach service which is a free phone helpline for children in need of care and protection. The CHILDLINE number 1098 is a toll free number that is common in all the cities of India. CHILDLINE Ajmer responds to every child who dials 1098 and provides emergency assistance through intervention an follow up.

Key Focus Area: –

We focus on the most marginalized children in the city which includes street children, children in domestic work, children who have been abused, child victims of the flesh trade, differently able children, child addicts, children in conflict with the law, children in institutions, mentally ill children, and children affected by HIV/AIDS, children whose families are in crises etc.

Achievements:

1. Awareness in CHILDLINE is an integral part of the program. The primary focus is to make the 1098 number known to children and to show them how to use the service. CHILDLINE Ajmer has been rigorously involved in conducting outreach and awareness on a regular basis.

2. Dosti Week: During the period of 8th to 14th November 2012, the CHILDLINE team devoted more than 16 hours per day going for outreach and awareness to different localities and areas targeting market places, taxi stands, slums, PCOs, shops, police stations, etc. sensitizing the masses about CHILDLINE and its services.  The following events were conducted by CHILDLINE Ajmer:-

  • Pushkar Mela: – A colourful exhibition was organized by CHILDLINE in which more than 1000 people including tourists visited the stall and showed interest to know more about the CHILDLINE service.
  •  Signature Campaign: – The campaign was conducted at city and village level schools, police stations and government offices on November 12. The campaign aimed at sensitizing the local & police personnel about the prevalence of child trafficking in the state and collaborative effort required to address the menace of child trafficking/ labour/ beggars.
  • CHILDLINE Se Dosti Rally: – A rally was organized with the support of all the five partners of CHILDLINE Ajmer and the local schools of blocks & villages in which more than 800 students participated.
  •  Open House: – It is an open forum for children associated with CHILDLINE, to address conflicts; and asses, review and evaluate the service. CHILDLINE Ajmer has been regularly conducting Open House for children thereby having interaction with the children and understanding their problems.
  • Several other events like Slogans Painting, Baal Mela & Surakasha Bandhan were also organized by CHILDLINE Ajmer during the year 2011-2012.
